Namibia Wildlife Resorts have urged travellers to plan their travels carefully as there is currently no fuel available at any of their rest camps with fuel stations.
Spokesperson of NWR, Nelson Ashipala said that this includes the Halali Resort, Okaukeujo Resort, Namutoni Resort, Terrace Bay Resort, Sesriem Campsite /Ai /Ais Hotsprings and Spa as well as Waterberg Resort.
According to reports, there has been little to no fuel available for the past five or six days at Etosha resorts.
Ashipala explained that Enercon, their third-party supplier, has apparently not supplied fuel to some camps since January. Enercon was contracted to supply fuel to
NWR, including at locations like the Etosha National Park.
In early March 2024, NWR experienced a fuel shortage at its pumps in Etosha, with Enercon responsible for the delivery.
The partnership between NWR and Enercon reportedly already collapsed in 2023, with Enercon allegedly failing to deliver fuel for six months, yet still receiving millions via a contentious contractual clause.
NWR will keep tourists and stakeholders informed about the situation.
