Museum fans will love Malmö Castle (Malmöhus Slott). The oldest preserved Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, it was built on the ruins of a fort and completed in 1542. Today, it also hosts the Natural History Museum of Malmö, Malmö Art Museum and an aquarium.

It was not until 1937 that the museum was able to move to the castle island. By then, the three prison barracks had been demolished and replaced by the current museum buildings. The castle building itself had already been restored in 1928 and gives an idea of what it looked like in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Malmö Castle is owned by the Swedish state and managed by the National Property Board. It also houses the Malmö Art Museum. The Commandant's House (Kommendanthuset) and the Castle Mill (Slottsmöllan) are also located near the castle.

Västra hamnen (western harbor) is a neighbourhood of Malmö, situated in the borough of Centrum, Malmö Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. This sub-area is an artificial island. It is a residential, educational and industrial area in Malmö.

Västra Hamnen is also known as "the City of Tomorrow", and is the first district in Europe that claims to be carbon neutral. The district uses aquifer thermal energy storage system to heat buildings in the winter and cool them in the summer. The city of Malmö received a Special Mention award at the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize 2012 in recognition of its good work at Västra hamnen.

Drottningtorget (Queen Square) is a major public square in central Malmö, Sweden. It lies between the main town square and Värnhem. The area dates back to at least the Middle Ages when the Adelgatan, one of the city's main streets, led to it and it became an important peasant trading centre. However, the modern square was built in the 1810s, when the old fortifications surrounding the town were removed.

The square was named after the Swedish queen Frederica of Baden, while Gustav Adolfs torg, which was built at the same time, was named after the Swedish king Gustav IV Adolf.

The building on the square's north side was built in 1819 as a riding hall. In 1900, it became the first covered market hall in Malmö. East and west of the square are houses from the 1890s and early 1900s, while the south side is flanked by an office building from the 1960s.

Sometimes an organized flea market takes place on the square.
