NWR ceases shuttle operations in 2x4 area in Sossusvlei

Namibia Wildlife Resorts announced that as from Tuesday (15 October) there will be an essential change in its shuttle service operations in the Sossusvlei area.

NWR spokesperson Nelson Ashipala said that it will cease to operate the shuttle service from the 2x4 area atSossusvlei and will now exclusively run the shuttle from the Sesriem Campsite.

He said that clients who have already booked shuttle vouchers/tickets to Deadvlei will now be ferried from the Sesriem Campsite instead.

Clients interested in the service are requested to buy their shuttle tickets at the Sesriem Campsite.

“We encourage all guests to make the necessary arrangements and plan their visits accordingly. Our team remains committed to offering the best service possible and will be available to assist with any queries or concerns regarding these changes,” Ashipala said .

This move comes after the tourism industry expressed their displeasure after a private company that received a 25-year contract to transport tourists to Sossusvlei erected a boom gate without any warning. This gate blocks the 2x4 parking lot at Sossusvlei and tour operators have allegedly been turned away from the park.
